Good day everyone I'm after some help deciphering some handwriting on my ggfathers census return, as to where he was born and what his occupation was Info: Patrick Foy age 49 Parish Rawtenstall Address 6 Back Bank St Census return 1901 Ref. RG13/3850 I know and can make out he came from Ireland but although I have an idea roughly the county I'd like second opinions if possible, also as to his occupation, any help appreciated. Thanks Kevin |

Thanks Shirley, I thought it might be Galway but I was thrown a little by the 'funny' 'a' next to the 'y'. I didn't want to put Galway down in my query just in case it caused people to think exactly the same. As I'm thinking of going across to Ireland I didn't want to end up in the wrong county. As for his occupation I couldn't for the life of me think what kind of journeyman. Many thanks Kevin |
