Have found my 3xgt. grandfather on 1851 census in Edinburgh, it says he was born in Bernins Blend, Linlithgowshire. Does anybody have any idea where it is please. Hilary.

Thanks Karen, thought it sounded a funny address. Just my luck. It has taken me 8 yrs to find him as well. Hilary.

Yes, tried googling, like you got nowhere. Would be grateful for anything. He was a stonemason apparently in earlier life. On 1851 census it said Pauper, former quarrier. I know there were lots of mines etc. there in those days. Thanks, Hilary.

Thanks Paul. I know of the area of Linlithgow but was trying to pinpoint him down a bit more. Thanks for your answer. Hilary.

Have you thought of contacting the local tourist board in Linlithgo in case they have some historical info? Paul

Hello Hilary Have you tried looking at the record on Scotlands People, some of the mistranscriptions(? spelling) on ancestry on my scottish ancestors make me smile. Not having a go mind must be hard .

Hi Paul, only found this info yesterday. He was mistranscribed on census but that is a good idea. Will give that a go. Thanks Hilary.

Thanks Karen, just my luck. Will try to get in touch with West Lothian FHS. Maybe someone from there will know. Like you say, I should think it is a house or something. Thanks for your help anyway. Hilary.
