My computer keeps disconnecting from the internet, can anyone tell me why this would happen. I have clicked on tools, internet options, click advanced and check the SSL3.0 and TLS 1.0 boxes are ticked but the SSL2,0 isn't. Is this correct?? Betty. |

Maybe your ISP has got a problem. have you tried rebooting the pc cos this sometimes clears things. Shirley |

I am with Orange, althought its Freeserve or was. Have tried rebooting. Have contacted ISP by e-mail to check if there was a problem, they said phone technical department as usual 0870 number which costs a fortune. Betty |

Hi Marion, Mine disconnects every couple of minutes, when its idle a message comes up to connect to the internet, its so much I am fed up with re-connecting all the time. Sorry Marion whats BRB??? Betty |

I don't have SSL 2.0 ticked either and my PC works fine. I think this is your ISP's fault. Lots of people have been moaning about Orange not only on here but on other forums too. In which case none of us can help you. You will either have to complain to Orange to sort this out or if they don't help then think about changing your ISP. Sorry, I was watching Ade Edmondson programme in Kenya, about Comic Relief money. Don't know anything about the boxes, Betty. Sometimes ISPs do disconnect now and then. I know AOL is notorious for it. I'll just check the Orange website to see if there is any announcement - unless members only can do that. BRB |

you are not alone our internet is with virgin(ntl) and is driving me insane.apparently isnt a problem at their end but crashes continuously and takes ages to get a connection in the first place only good thing is i have managed to get some housework done!!!!!! alison |

betty i am with supanet and have the same proble, i can be using a site and then wheni cahnge pages it tells me i am not conected to internet but when i check i am connected. its a pain i dont know what the cause is but i am beginning to think a big hammer would cure it !!! love linda x |

This is an error message that you get from Internet Explorer. I think most people get this message from time to time. It often happens when the internet is busy or the websites servers or your ISP's servers are having problem meeting demands. It doesn't mean that you are disconnected from the internet. The error message is just giving that as one of the options or reasons for the non display of the page. This happens to most people from time to time but the only time to worry is if it happens too often. Some websites will throw up this error message more than others because their servers can't cope with all the users - it doesn't mean there is anything wrong with your connection or your computer. Betty Sorry been away from pc for a time. I,m on Virgin media, was telewest , my boxes are automatically ticked for SSl 2.0. SSL 3.0. and TLS 1.0 Not a puter whizz so these may just be relevant for Telewest/ Virgin. I think you need to contact your ISP server. Shirley |

Have you checked your internet connection ? Go to Internet Options, click on Connections and check that your ISP provider is checked as the default connection and that the box is ticked for 'All connections to dial my default connection'. Could also be worth looking at the Network Connection. Go to Start, click on Control Panel, click on Network Connection and right click on your default connection. Then click on Properties and when the box comes up click on Options and check that the 'Idle time before hanging up' box is marked Never ! Good luck, Jean |
