Southport was further up and more middle class- away from the trouble a bigger sort of Victorian seaside area...like eastbourne I suppose.....they wanted the heavily populated areas and the docks were a big tarrget in liverpool-so much so that 30 miles away in rural wales they lit torches in places like 'worlds End' to decoy the bombs if possible-you can still see the huge craters there now all grassed over.New Brighton is right in the pathway along with birkenhead- there is a fort here aswell as a lighthouse. |

Years later, bless her, when I knew her - mother in law would say, Oh Southport was lovely, if I win the pools Ill move there. As I said, must have been a dream of a holiday for those poor girls, worth having a baby - LOL |
