My granddad joined a ship in Liverpool bound for Australia. it went via India I think. He was not an experienced sailor so I expect he was a general deckhand. This was about 1892 ish. I believe he was away for approx 2 years and on his return the ship docked at the Royal Victoria Dock in East London. Is there any route I can go down to find information about this please. Kathlyn

have you tried ancestors on board? you can search it vis Find my past (1837online) it currently covers 1890 to 1909, supposesly all ships leaving the UK are coverd..

There's a Passenger Lists thread on the Records Office board - you might try the Australian lists there, some of which include crew names.
