I have been given some information that i need some advice on as to where to go next or how to use it. Albert Edward Phipps Acting Sergeant Army Service Corps Military service 08/03/1915 - 14/02/1919 T4/070507 I dont know what the number means, maybe this is the service number, I would like to know what to do next though to find some information about him. thank you

If you want his service record then they are stored at The national archives in Kew....www.nationalarchives.gov.uk However less than a 1/3rd of all service records from WW1 survived as they were destroyed during a fire in WW2. Service records that survived are stored under range WO 363 (burnt files) and WO 364 (pension files). or if you live close to a family history centre www.familysearch.org then you can for a few pounds order the film in that you want. The series title is Military records of the British Army, 1914-1920 There are also whispers that Ancestry are currently copying all of the burnt files and hope to have them available to view online at some point this year.
