You'll have to follow the family through the census and see if there are another child born with a name beginning with W. Now i really am going to bed...

got it all Mhairi, I'm still a bit concerned about the Uncle what do you think about that?

Mhairi Queen of Scots Report 17 Nov 2006 02:31

Well i would and wouldnt have. Since i live in Edinburgh (most of the time Stirling during term time). It only costs me a bus ride up the town. For one whole days searching its £17 which gives me access to all the OPR (old parish registers) from 1580 to 1854 and all the statutory stuff from 1855 to the present date. Plus census's. Sometimes i find going once a month or so to the records office rather than spending £6 on scotlandspeople each week. The only thing is that you have to pay extra (50p) for a print out. If you want all your ancestors siblings dates and things its good. As for James Clarks death, if he stayed down in England then looking through the indexs might help they will give ages which should help you narrow things down. If he returned to Scotland i can have a look when i'm at the reocrds office again next monday (not this monday coming but the one after). Mhairi

Annie Report 17 Nov 2006 02:21

Mhaira, Tell me, if you were to go up to Scotland like you did the other day - would you have found more than you have on James Clark? Or the same? I just don't get why people travel distances to get the info if it's on the web? Annie

[email protected] now everyone knows it haha who cares! Thank you soooo much... So my notes will be it must be the person because you looked up one of the sons and on it - it had the father as Thomas Clark and he was a French Polisher. And is it Thomas that was born in Ireland? (the daddy)

Mhairi Queen of Scots Report 17 Nov 2006 02:10

I think so but its just a bit more fancy. I have the 1871 census return for them if you want to send me your email address, saves you spending the credits on it. I have to tell you though that...Thomas...was from...Ireland which will cause you even more confusion i can promise you. Mhairi

Annie

Annie Report 17 Nov 2006 02:08

Well, Mhairi, I've viewed a document - and printed it off - is it the same one you order and pay £10 for? There's a few births on there? Doesn't he get his own? Annie

Annie

Annie Report 17 Nov 2006 02:06

Mhairi Queen of Scots Report 17 Nov 2006 02:05

I think your on the wrong bit on Scotlandspeople Annie, with the credits you should be able to view the births after 1855 to 1905. I've just got up Bernard Carks death cert which shows his father as a FRENCH POLISHER! so looks like we have the right family! Mhairi (who's still here :) )

Annie Report 17 Nov 2006 01:59

Night Night Mhairi, Don't blame you for going.. I'm off now too, my head hurts! There must be another way around this? The certificate is £10 and there's no hint of a connection? Annie x yawnnnnn

Annie

Annie Report 17 Nov 2006 01:56

Just thought Mhairi, If WA clark was up in Northumberland - maybe he was living up there? what do you think... Maybe I should do a search on him?

Annie

Annie Report 17 Nov 2006 01:53

Mhairi, When I'm on that IGI site does it automatically look through scottish records too - because I can't see any? Annie
