Sarah Ann Westle was born in 1897. Couldnt have been married in 1903. There is a Sarah Ann Wastle (17) born Morpeth. Seems there are a couple of variation on this name. Westle is George Robert Wrights Mothers maiden name taken from birth index. Georges Father, William James Wright, has a marriage entry for 1903. Sarah Annie Westtle and Sarah Annie Westlle have each got a seperate marriage entry ffor 1903. Wow, I cant keep up.

Thanks you 2. I appreciate the help with the follow-on. Westle is an interesting surname. Wonder if I'm heir to the hamburger empire? The thing about the Westles is that there isnt another Westle within around 20+ miles at the time and where they lived is about a 10 min walk from where some of my family still live which is a small pit village.

I think you're right . Looking at the possibilities on ancestry.co.uk, there are a few to choose from with nothing being a dead certainty. So, birth certificates it is..... I think the Wrightys want to stay buried.

You could try to find William in the same way I found Thomas. First, go to the PRO 1901 site (http://www.1901censusonline.*com) and search under his first name, surname and occupation. Look for likely candidates in the Durham area. Make a list, then go to Ancestry and find the same men on there. This will allow you to view the census images and full transcriptions. There are a few William James Wrights from Durham unfortunately, so it might be best to get George's birth cert to find his mothers name, then you can find out when they married.

Given Lucy's parents names, this is a likely marriage... Marriage Dec 1908 Morgan Thomas Angus Sarah Jane Morpeth 10b 644

George and Lucy's marriage cert came this morning. George's Father was called William James Wright and he was a miner. Assuming George lived with his parent at the time of is marriage, the address was 53 St.Marys Field, Morpeth. Lucy's Father was called Thomas Morgan and was also a miner. Their address was 9 Biltons Court,Morpeth. Now, how do I use the Fathers' names to pin down the start of my search at the 1901 census. I do know that Lucy's Mothers maiden name was Angus but this doesnt help.

David because you need to get your family back to 1901 so you can follow them on the census's I would suggest you get George & Lucy's birth certificates, you will then have their parents names & then hopefully we can find them on the 1901 census. Georgina.

David, As Georgina has found the marriage in 1933 (Wright-Morgan), I would be inclined to check for more siblings between 1933 and 1939. Keith

You would need to find the reference for the marriage cert to be able to buy it. You can search the BMD register here: http://www.ancestry.*co.uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx

Lucy's birth cert will give you the full details of her parents.........that info should enable you to find them on 1901 census......failing that, you need to find the marriage of her parents, to establish the names of the respective fathers. Reg

So with an exact match of my Grandmother is it possible to get their marriage cert?

He was the only George Robert born in Northumberland between 1900 and 1910. The best idea would be to get their marriage cert, that way you can be certain(ish) of their ages and fathers. You can then cross-reference this with the birth certs. Once you have both their parents names from the birth certs, you can look for them in 1901, and start your way back :)

Reg, How do you know where George and Lucy were born? My assumption this but I think fairly accurate. And are the years guesswork? The years are very close but may not be exact. Have you got their marriage cert? No, sorry. Orangeblossom, Birth Sep 1905 Wright George Robert Gateshead 10a 989 (I really dont know about this) Birth Sep 1911 Morgan Lucy mother - Angus Morpeth 10b 795 (This is definately my Grandmother)
