Hi Sue, depending when in in Q4 1897 the person was born (late Dec?), yes it is quite possible for the birth to show up in the first quarter of 1898.

Hi Sue, Short answer - yes! The BMD index for births, only relates to the quarter the event was registered in. As you have six weeks to register a birth, anyone registered in the March quarter could have been born mid November onwards, and not registered until January. Hope that helps Debbie

yes sue, especially is they were born in december, often births are registered in the next quater

If a person was reg on BMD for the first qtr of 1898 is there a chance that they could of been born 1897?
