I too find this very frustrating. I cannot find a marriage, I know the child was born out of wedlock. It is even worse when on other certs belonging to them, that they insisted on putting a married name for the mother. I am at a complete halt on them. I am sure my ancestors are laughing at me somewhere. Julie

Hi Patricia The reason being that the names of both his parents (the one I cannot find a marriage for) are very common in the Scotland area I am searching and therefor cannot not be sure of who they really are. For example I came up withe 126 names the same as mothers in the census of that area. Julie

Hi Patricia Thanks for the advice. I have been trying to sort this for a while now and think that maybe I need to go to the local area and see if I can find information there. The problem being its 500 miles away. I suppose if it was all easy it would be boring. Julie

Hi Sharon The marriage does come up if you put her name in first and do a soundex on the surname. This is the baptism entry which might be your David.
