Has anyone tried to use 'My tree matches' today? I have had a complete nightmare with it and have emailed GR to let them know. I am just interested if anyone else has suffered similarly. I can select names added in the last 1 day but then when I click to see the names it takes me to all the names ever added. I wonder if the problem is just with mine or everyones. Thanks, Helen

if you click where it says all you can change to 1-14days then click on show didn't know it had changed jeanette update I see what you mean perhaps again not working properly some of names working right. some times it reverts back to all

i have just looked at it and i have the same problem, it keeps goung back to all names that have ever been added, what a nightmare.

dont like new way like tree just about but not tree matches cant get to tree from there like you used to be able Jeanette

That's another bit I just can't be bothered with now. Its made it much too cumbersome and time-consuming. Takes 10 times longer than previously to do the same thing! Anne

Hi i have just looked its terrible it was so easy before, why do they keep changing things. Please Genes we pay our fees ask us first before you change anything.

Its terrible, I wanted to view the 14 Dickins that have been added in the last 3 days but it lists all the Dickins on the site - pages of them. I hope they change it back to how it was, I used to review it every couple of day for new additions, I'm not going to trawl through pages and pages of them. It used to be so easy to use. Jeannie

Hello GR users Yes I have seen the new page formats and am not keen on the new layouts. One problem I have also also flagged up to GR Help Desk is that on the Shared Trees Option you can no longer go direstly into the other persons Ancetsors/relations list like you used to be able to do. You can only go into the persons tree at the point where they are situated which is of no use to you if you are interested in someone say in the 1500's about 16 generations back.

I've had another look and its seems that although you specify the number of days on the first pages, when you get to look up the people added under a particular surname on the next page, you have to specify 'added in the last X days' at the bottom of that page again. Makes it all so long winded and its so slow to link. Why don't Gr do a suvey of what paying members would like to be improved first and then test it thoroughly first. 'If it ain't broken, don't fix it!' Jeannie

I have had a personal message from GR re this posting. I have provided them with the details of the problem and they have said they will get it fixed. Thanks for all your feedback. Helen

Did you also notice that they no longer add names submitted by 'you'? Used to be 5 Joe Blows - 4 by other people and one by 'you' - and it was easy to see if they came from the same place. Now there are just the 4 other submissions. Also, I don't like the fact that they now have 'no' in the contact column when you haven't contacted - this means that I now have to check every name (read every line) to see whether it has 'yes' or 'no' beside. Was much better 'way back when' - there was a great big tick beside those you had contacted - much easier on the eyes. One other thing - at the bottom, the page number you are on is not highlighted, so you have no idea where you are and when you try to go back a page it takes you way back - not quite to the beginning, but not to the previously viewed page either.

Why Oh Why ? Did they change the format. It worked OK before. Mind boggling.

I have just put thread on General board about this. Why cant GR put up a general notice when changing this and give us warning. I use, well used to, this new names to see if they were connected to me in anyway. All I got was first name unknown about 16 pages of them for one surname !!!!!!!!!! Oh well, suppose it can only get better - fingers crossed. Mary in Spain

Mine is still not totally correct. I requested to see the names added in the last day, clicked on a name that said 2 had been added but when it linked to the next page - there weren't any names there! Jeannie

GR support have messaged me to say that they have found the bug which is affecting some trees, but not all. They are working on it and is should be working properly by tomorrow morning. Helen.

yes I'm gettting both i see now have names of person who has them in their tree when I get past page 10 I keep getting other writing Jeanette

I found a contact through hot matches and have told her I'd let her view my tree. Trouble is she doesn't appear to be on my Contact List and that's where the tick boxes are for viewing......or is there another way?

go to contacts click on date that will bring up last one you spoke to and look for her with christian name as i think on trees down with maiden name

Thanks Jeanette. No wonder I couldn't find her. Shes using different surname but apart from that details are spot on so I've ticked the box. (dont like the tree layout at all. Why so peeps have to change something thats working?)
