Yes a child staying with grandparents also recorded at home- in same street, must have run up and down road whilst enumerator still going round!! Think the confusion came with who lives in the house and who is there that night i.e only visitors. Kim

Yes, I have 1841 my great great grandmother Mary with her children at home with Mary's husband and simultaneously staying with Mary's parents - which is a big help as it confirms her maiden name and gave me their ages, so I could find their baptisms! 1871 My great grandfather at home with wife, children and his widowed mother as well as at sea with his elder brother. Useful because elder brother is very elusive, so it confirmed he was a fisherman. Makes up for all the folk I can't find ONCE, never mind twice!

Found one today which solved a mystery in OH's tree which has been bugging me for some time. On the 1901 a relly of his called Nancy was married to William and their oldest child was 12, but in 1891 William was unmarried and with his parents, and I couldn't find Nancy or the oldest child. At last, today, I found William, Nancy and the child all together on the 1891! So William is with his wife and children, and also with his parents. (I'm sure it was just a mistake rather than a secret marriage, as his oldest two children were born in the same tiny village where his parents lived!) Kate.

I have had similar with Edward F Bishop at home with wife and children in Bitton but also as visitor with his parents in Wiltshire! This seems to be a recurring theme with 1891 census!

Yes - my great-grandfather in the 1891 census. He was in the Royal Navy and his ship was in port in Portsmouth. All the men attached to the ship were given in the census, but then at the top (where you don't always look) it says 'Not on board'. He is also at home with his family.
