morpeth workhouse

hi all, im looking for information about morpeth workhouse, my grandad was put in there by his father at a young age, he was in there around the 1920's, if anyone has got any information bout the workhouse then please get intouch with me at, [email protected]

I know that Morpeth library have a good fam his section with parish records etc- may be worth e-mailing them....

Hi Joanne, If you google, images, Morpeth workhouse, loads of photographs and plans of Morpeth workhouse come up. There is also quite detailed info on the history. I remember the building from my childhood although it was not in use. It was demolished, I think in the 50s, and a really ugly communications building up on the site. My mum has just told me an ancestor of ours used to work there. She was called Margaret Flanaghan. Moira.
