Quite agree there Wendy She doent say she is widowed so he must have left her there with two children but where are the others? Have ordered certificate - maybe it will help. These Welling/s /Wellin/Wellen /Willin/s if only they could read and write my life would be so much easier. I'm sure that is why I cant find Eliza 1891 Thanks everyone Chris |

I agree with you there christine. In fact I would be tempted to verify it by asking at the relevent office to double check that William appears as his father, because if it does and Daniel as seen in the later census has the same father it makes me wonder where the H*** they both are in the 1861 that Stephen and his mum appear Wendy |

Thanks Wendy Have checked out Mary A and understand what you are saying. But guess what everyone!! I have just found a birth for a Stephen Wellin on Ancestry Feb, Mar, Apr 1861 in Greenwich. This would tie up the Stephen in the workhouse in Greenwich in the 1861 census taken in April. Which would make his Mother Eliza From Watford. What do you think? |

Just to add The 1861 showing Stephen age 4months is the same as the one that I posted only difference is the image says 4 and 1 month I just couldn't make my mind up on it. I now have found Daniel/Dannal in the 1881 through to the 1901 census. I notice Susan* is shown as being the wife of Dan* even though they didn't marry til *82 I have been trying to find the connection with the John and Mary Parrow( not hundred % sure on their surname ) with whom the children of Daniel and Susannah Welling listed as Nephews. Have you any ideas on that one? Wendy |

The 1891 census showing an Eliza with a Mary Ann Wellings is not the one there parents are shown as George aged 45 Ester aged 42 with some Dobson members as well If you put Mary A Wellings born 1879* Westminster into the 1881 you will see what I mean. Wendy |

Hi Everyone Sorry I haven’t been able to get back earlier. I started question at work and now I am home my daughter has commandeered the pc. So can only get back on when she takes a break. Wendy Daniel birth – 1881 & 1901 = 1858 1891 = 1861 Daniels marriage cert says 1858. father William Welling – Occupation Porter In the 1881 he says born Katherines Dock, Tower Hill – on all the rest he says Deptford/Greenwich. Yvonne They both look very interesting. I will definitely be checking them out. Maureen Again another one to check out. Thanks for checking Fuzzy . Chris |

Do you know when Daniel was born and where? Do you already have a sighting of him to show the relationship between the two of them? Wendy |

Hi Wendy That is really interesting about the workhouse. It is a possibility. Daniel was Stephens brother. Sorry just reread my message and it is a bit confusing isnt it. Thanks Chris Thanks Fuzzy - I have them in the 1881 but again I must apologise for confusing everyone. |

Strange how he gets younger through the census! I suppose those he is only fitting with everybody else. Can I ask, who is it that has a brother called Daniel? I got lost in your message. Wendy |

Can any one help please. I have found Stephen Welling on the 1881 census m to Ann Taylor with daughter Eliza 2 months in Deptford. Ann unfortunately died in 1884 aged 24. I believe Stephen to be the same age. In 1885 Stephen then married Rosina Baker. I have found the couple with their son Stephen in the 1891 and 1901 census. But Eliza is nowhere to be found in the 1891 census. By 1901 she was married. I know Stephens father was called William (and Anns father was also called William)and he had a brother Daniel. Stephen, Ann and Rose were all Hawkers. and as far as I can find were always living in and round the Greenwich and deptford areas. Not only can I not find Eliza in the 1891 I cannot find Stephen before the 1881 census. They have occurred so far as Welling andWillings Any help or suggestions would be grateful Thanks Chris |
