John and James are certainly different names, but the GRO index is not infallible! Christine

We have a birth cert with the parents Marjorie Harris and John D Ashton, Edmonton, I have been trawling ancestry marriages and have only found Marjorie Harris and James D Ashton, Islington 1939 in the right time span . Do you think there could be a mistake, my husband has sent for the marriage cert but this will not prove that it is the right couple. Does anyone have any tips? Caroline
