Iliffe Press is/was the name of a major publishing house (technical books and magazines). I don't know anyone with that name but I hadn't thought of it being particularly unusual. J

I've been on the trail of ancestors in Iliffe Street, South London.

Iliffe is quite a common name in Leicestershire. I have Iliffes from Hinckley in my tree and was at school with some more. A connection to Lord Iliffe (the newspaper magnate) would be even better, but there are enough Iliffes around to make that unlikely I would have thought. If you get back to Hinckley give me a shout. It is worth trying to connect to the newspaper family as according to Wikipedia: 'Lord Iliffe and the rest of the Iliffe family holds (2006) an estimated fortune (according to the Sunday Times Rich List) of £200m' !!!!! Mark

Like Sheila, I've come across several Iliffes in Leicestershire, and went to school with at least one.
