Looking for the Marriage of William Teer to Lillian Elizabeth Taylor, about 1892 ( when first child was born), He was 40, she was 20 in 1901 census. Any help much appreciated. Jackie OOps...she was 30, not 20... j Update....I have found another William Teare born 1861 whose father ws a carpenter named John. William was born manchester, John born IOM. Mother Isabella b. IOM. according to 1871 Census. Found them again in 1861 England census.( Though mistranscribed by Ancestry is Jenbella). Found marriage on GRO ( maiden name Taggart ) married 1851. Trouble is census was taken 1851, (march) and cant find the 1851 census record? Am I dumb or what? My FIL said they came from IOM mid 19th century, so this could be a match too.........bummer just ordered certs for all the others. Any help appreciated. Jackie |

Would that possibly mean that Lillian was a second wife. Children on census were James 1892, Lillian 1895, Ethel, 1898. Frank ( my husbands g/father was born 1904 ). Frank JNr. my husbands father recallls his g/mother as Lillian taylor. Seems strange to marry 23 yrs after first born?? Jackie |

Jackie, Do you have the births for Lilian, James and Frank? I found Ethel but don't see theirs? Were they born with different surnames? Rose |

Hi Rose, Sorry had to take a break for a bit ( laundry ). Where did you find ethel's birth? I dont have anything on the others apart from Frank, b. Manchester 22/3/1904. Frank's birth could not be verified cause they could never find a birth cert. Ive been looking for years and only just last week found them all( except Frank ) in 1901 census, mis transcribed as Teen. Ive been suspecting for a while that the first 3 kids were from a different marriage and Frank was born to Lillian. But 1891 census has James as son to Lillian name leo on census...so perhaps Im wrong. So different surnames dont really work unless they were illegitamate? My husbands father has had 3 stokes in past yr and really cant fill me in on any more. Besides I am in Australia and he is in Sark, Channel Islands, so not much more can be revealed. Quite a tricky one I'm afraid! jackie |

I don't know if this will be of any use, but I managed to locate the 1881 census for the family on Ancestry. They are listed as Tear not Teer, all living at: - 184, Corporation Street, Cheetham, Manchester Elizabeth Tear - abt1842 aged 39 - married William - abt1860 aged 21 - Joiner Jane - abt1862 aged 19 Frank - abt1864 aged 17 John - abt1865 aged 16 Alice A - abt1869 aged 12 Mary E - abt1872 aged 9 Joseph - abt1874 aged 7 James S All form Manchester. I also found the 1891 census with Leo Teer 1mth, Lillian 24 and William 29. All from Manchester. Can't seem to locate the 1901 though and I had it on 'soundex'. I also found the marriage you mentioned William H Teer & Lillian Taylor In Salford in 1915, either registry office or registrar attended. I found it on lancashirebmd.org.uk. So perhaps you can send off for it. I then tried looking for an Elizabeth who married a ? Teer. Took a risk and went from 1852-1863. I found 2: - Elizabeth Fearnhead married a William Teer in 1856 @ St Simon, Salford. Elizabeth Dunn married a Joseph Teer in 1857. Salford registry office/registrar attended. I don't know if any of this will help. Hope it does |

Yes I found it on Ancestry. It is the 1881 census and he is listed as the son of Elizabeth, so he will be William's brother. Elizabeth is the head and all the rest are her children. You may have found Frank Teer brother of James born 1892, Lillian born 1895 and Ethel born 1898 as mentioned before. |
