Hi, it's me again! I'm looking at an entry for Richard Brooks, Meesden, Hertfordshire aged 70, page 7, 2nd household down. Also listed is his daughter Ann and below her, her 4 illigitimate children!! In the 'Relation to Head of Family' column it says something before the word son and it's that word I can't read. I'm curious as to how the children have been described! Many thanks Lyndsey |

It looks as if it says Daugh son and Daugh daug. Wendy |

It says 'daur son' for the first one (ie, daughter's son) and then do (for ditto) son or do daughter. nell |

Thanks for that, I hope you didn't think it was too trivial. I wonder why they just didn't say Granddaughter ort Grandson! Richard must have been a very tolerant father, another of my Grandmother's ancestors had a child outside of marriage and she was banished to the Workhouse and never allowed home again - and that was 40 years later!!
