Have you got the master program discs - such as Microsoft Office etc - as you will have to reload them again. (Not much you can do if you haven´t though!) |

Just thought of another one - have you saved your favourite/bookmarked web site addresses. You should be able to export or save these to a disc. |

Hi again Elaine I have managed to backup My Documents, printed off a couple of mega vital e-mails and messages. As for favourites i haven't managed that (it wasn't that long ago i found how to add to my favourites anyway. All my favourites are genealogy based, some specific to Norfolk. I'm fresh out of discs and getting the stick tomorrow, but after reading the other thread from yesterday i'm a bit lost on the favourites bit.Where are they stored? I only ever work from my ISP toolbar (AOL),the kids go through ISP and Outlook Express/MSN as they often use Messenger (?) things. Glen |

Right Got a memory stick and the pc won't recognise it,it is supposed to work with XP with no additional drivers and works with 1.1 and 2.0 USB. CD-R playing up,sometimes the discs i saved yesterday appear ok,other times they have no info stored (apparently!!!) So i don't know if anything is backing up or not,my last FTM disc backup was ok,three weeks ago,but has only 380 names,my tree now stands at nearly 500,(and is the backup ok?I don't know) Starting to get a wee bit nervous now. From my computer i selected the name of the drive (stick),then opened the drive to see what was stored on it. It listed my backup files, pictures, census etc that i had transferred. The disc backups i made aren't showing the contents everytime,so i am wary of using them. I'm no techie at all,but the stick was supposed to be plug and play,i had to download a driver first though!! At least it does show some files that i can open and they are my FTM backups so i have the major things i need.My certs are held on memory cards that fit my printer, saved on my pc and of course i have the paper copies from the register offices.
