Hi, I have a relative that on the 1861 & 1871 census was living in Paddington, London and whose occupation was Railway Guard. Where can I found out more about his occupation and maybe who he worked for and if there are any records? Thanks Naomi

The National Archives at Kew have a whole lot of railway company records. My g-g-father worked for GWR and, if I'd not mixed up the references too late in the day the one time I've been there, I'd have a copy of his personnel records! Christine

If he ever got his name in the papers he might be on the Black Sheep Index.

If he was at Paddington, 99% sure he would have been with GWR............ Reg
