has anyone else had people added to their families i've just gone on the 1891 census for the pope family hatield and they have added 10 more people to it on the 1881 census they have left out 3 of my family hazel.

thank you merry 1881 i have james pope age 55 northmer hertfordshire parish hornsey middlesex letitia pope b/ 1832 wife beech hill ,berkshire emily j pope 1854 ernest pope 1858 fank pope 1867 arthur 1873. in the 1891 census james pope 1826 hatfield hertfordshire hornsey letitia pope 1832 buck hill berkshire hornsey emily j pope 1854 daug frank pope 1867 son sorry to be so long winded but cant type fast thanks hazel.

Maybe the missing family members had left home or were visiting when the census was taken?

I just see James Letitia Emily Frank Arthur on both censuses and Ernest on the 1881, who I imagine has left home by 1891. merry

merry , i've just gone back to 1891 census and put in james pope 1826 middlesex hornsey head and it came up with annie as his wife charles 6 edgar 9 edmond 12 harry 1 herbert 7 teresa 3/12 harriet watson 21 alice woodman 21 these people are not part of my family hazel

When you look at the original page for the 1891 census Pope family......if you turn the page to the next census page you will see the next family begins with Annie Seagroatt who is down as Wife rather than Head of her household. I think the transcriber must have had a few, as he/she has transcribed this family with the name Pope as well and didn't make then a separate household either!! Harriet Watson and Alice Woodman are part of the Seagroatt household too! Merry
