Perhaps he was born a Perkins but adopted a stepfathers name. |

Hi nell........... I remember this Samuel from other threads! The problem is, the one from Shelsey B is the only one available in 1901 who fits with the marriage record, but perhaps he isn't the right man in any case?? I don't know where his bride was living in 1901, but if they married in 1902 in Blackburn, one might be forgiven for thinking they should have already met by 1901? Merry |

If he was born 1875, you should be able to find him in 1881 and 1891. The closer a census is to someone's birth the more likely it is to be accurate. As his father had a different surname, its likely Samuel was illegitimate. He might therefore have had his mother's maiden name at his birth and then maybe if she married later, to have taken his stepfather's surname. nell |

Have you been able to trace George Perkins in the censues? Could Samuel have been a Perkins too in earlier years? Merry |
