I was originally on Norton which I dumped in favour of AVG. A year or so later things started to play up and I deleted AVG and tried to instal a new AVG. It won't let me because it says it doesn't recognise the language then gives a number which I forget offhand. So currently I am trialling NTL Netguard.

I use avast anti virus,I reckon its just as good as norton & its free. It scans everything from emails to private messaging to the net .... & its really easy to use. If you wanna look for yourself go to www.avast dot com ,click on the 4 home edition (free) Best of luck!

I got McAfee on a free trial with my Dell laptop, and it was okay, but it made my laptop really slow. I got AVG, when I started having problems with McAfee, I couldn't update McAfee and soon got fed up with it. I uninstalled McAfee, got AVG and Zone Alarms Firewall (both free), now I have no probs and computer is no longer slow. My only regret is I wish I'd done it sooner, AVG picked up on stuff McAfee virus scan didn't.

hi all well i have just downloaded the free trial for McAfee and you have all made we worry. My computor has been sluggish and acting daft lately so now after reading about this free agv7 do you think i should remove McAfee and install agv7 instead?? Sylvia

Margaret Its the blind leading the blind here, you understand, but when I installed AVG yesterday, it gave me the option to have automatic updates (which it strongly recommends). OC

Do you use Broadband because if you do depends on the monthly amount you pay but you can down load Norton for Free . If you use Bt its worth checking it out. Gwen

I use Avast, thats free as well you just need to register. I used to use AVG but found Avast more easier to configure as you can turn on/off the seperate shields.

AVG is excelent! Also try.... 'go back' Google it. If you do get a nasty....just 'go back' to the day before you got it....SORTED! Gerri

OC has put both on Val but it shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure you get all of Norton Off. If you're worried about having 2 on together and it MIGHT have caused a problem, just remove both and start all over again I ran with 2 last year by mistake and had no probs but you never know
