Hi, I've just found out that my great grandfather was an artist and inventor. Apparently he had many inventions patented. Can anyone tell me if I can access the Patent records. I have googled, but I can only find information on new inventions being patented now. Thanks, Ruth. |

Hi Ruth After watching Who Do You Think You Are one of them (Jeremy Clarkson I think it was) had an ancestor was an inventor of some type of jar (Kilner?) and they researched the patent records. From memory I think they were at the National Archives looking at them but I could be wrong - perhaps there is someone else out there who can confirm the exact location of them? Snowdrops |

Hello Ruth Been doing a bit of googling as it niggles me when I only know half an answer (or even a quarter LOL) and I've come up with two sites for you (think you may already have looked a the first one though - but if not it's there for you). http://www.patent.gov.uk/patent/index.htm http://www.bl.uk/collections/patents.html The second is at the British Library and seems to hold archives of patents - when you look at it more closely you will see if it's got what you're after. Good luck Snowdrops |
