Hello Ruth Been doing a bit of googling as it niggles me when I only know half an answer (or even a quarter LOL) and I've come up with two sites for you (think you may already have looked a the first one though - but if not it's there for you). http://www.patent.gov.uk/patent/index.htm http://www.bl.uk/collections/patents.html The second is at the British Library and seems to hold archives of patents - when you look at it more closely you will see if it's got what you're after. Good luck Snowdrops

Hi Ruth After watching Who Do You Think You Are one of them (Jeremy Clarkson I think it was) had an ancestor was an inventor of some type of jar (Kilner?) and they researched the patent records. From memory I think they were at the National Archives looking at them but I could be wrong - perhaps there is someone else out there who can confirm the exact location of them? Snowdrops

Hi, I've just found out that my great grandfather was an artist and inventor. Apparently he had many inventions patented. Can anyone tell me if I can access the Patent records. I have googled, but I can only find information on new inventions being patented now. Thanks, Ruth.
