I am looking for a frederick Western Plimsole in the 1901 census. He was born in 1865 in Exeter and died in 1911 in Exeter i don't think he got married but nothing would surprise me with this one. Thanks in advance.

It is him, as the other family match up with the 1871 census (where their name is spelled the way I typed it!) Fred was a carpenter in 1901. Merry

Looking through the earlier censuses, it's obvious that the transcribers didn't recognise a surname famous in the context of shipping safety. (For anyone who missed that bit of history...The no-more-loading line painted around the outside of a ship's hull is called the Plimsole line...?Samuel?) Christine

Hi Christine, There is an old family tale that Samuel Plimsoll is a family relative but I still can not find it.
