Just found a william and mary reed on the 1871 census in London says both born in london in 1843 census ref's RG10/286 folio 82 page 2, he is down as a coachman, previous occupations in 1873 (brushmaker) and 1876 (timekeeper) what puts me off of this is that Mary Reed also down as 1843 born in London, and I have her down previously as southwark and 1845. also doesn't bring me any further to william henry reeds father!! slowly pulling hair out! |

Slowly going mad!!! Some of you may remember this from whiles back and me praying for an unusual name for the father…yeah that so didn’t happen!! Here are the facts: Birth cert of Mary Elizabeth Reed born 1873 St Saviour Southwark Father William Henry Reed occupation brushmaker Mother Mary Elizabeth Reed late Young formerly Perkins (Born 1845 Southwark) Marriage Cert dated 1876 William Henry Reed occupation Timekeeper Father William Reed (Deceased) Mary Elizabeth Young Father George Perkins (Deceased) So they married three years after child was born. I know that by 1881 Mary was a widow living with her daughter in southwark Thing is I cant find William Henry Reed on the census at all and now I find his father is dead by 1876 as well…….Gawd where do I start??? I don’t even know which county to start looking in!! Managed to find Mary Elizabeth Perkins on the 1851 and 1861 even though didn’t have father’s occupation as he died in 1867. So much easier usually when they have middle names, not in the case of William Henry flipping Reed though!!! Suggestions gratefully received |
