hi everyone i wanted to ask does anyone know what it means fourth cousin once removed i recently found a cousin who is my 4th once removed can anyone help please thankyou kerry ann

1st cousins share a set of grandparents 4th cousins share a set of gtgtgt grandparents. Once removed means one of you is the next generation down from the other one. Janice

1st cousin-share grandparents 2nd cousins -share great grandparents etc 4th once removed means the generation above-eg someone in your mother`s generation to someone in your generation. Have I explained it clearly? Ros
