Hi Alter The only 'odd' place of birth is Spratton. Spratton was where she was living in 1861, that is also where her husband was born - her son was also recorded as being born Spratton. I'm guessing (hoping) that is what the husband told the Census. (either Lazy or didnt know / care) :) Cheers...Paul |

Thanks Nell, it does sound feasible - I just wish I had a Hill / Norman marriage to confirm it, but as you say they may never have married. I think John Norman went on till at least 1891. Thanks Jim, I hadnt found that record. I'm looking for him in 1871 now, as if my theory is correct then dad is lodging on his own, mum (hannah) is off with her fancy man, so where is William - in service somewhere ? At last a bit of mystery in my family :) Paul |

This looks very possible, but it might also be possible that Hannah never officially became Mrs Hill. Have you looked for a death for the first husband? Perhaps he and Hannah just separated. nell |
