I used to have a link to free search on a website of parish records for marriages and births but it seems to have gone missing - can anyone help me with this please?

Hi... Could it be the IGI www(.)familysearch(.)org remove brackets or, try googling the parish records you are looking for. Deb

It wasn't family search I don't think - it was given to me by a man on these boards some time ago and I could enter a surname and then look through parish records - I think it had something to do with the Mormon church site - possibly the source records for it.

Try googling 'hugh wallis' Mormon site is similar, but Hugh Wallis more extensive.

Jennifer, it must be FamilySearch. When I saw the title of your thread I thought you had found the 'missing link' in your Munro family tree to finally prove the connection with the gentry! How's it going? Kate.

hi Kate I have found Hugh Munro who was sailing in a ship called the Speedwell in 1758. He was the father of John Thomas Munro my GGGG father. Problem is I don't know who Hugh was. I have the ship's log with his name in it from 1758 and the cover says 'Sir Thomas Munro' . If he was Thomas and Hugh was his second name then he may have been the son, listed as lost at sea, of John Munro , son of George Munro of Culcairn who was the brother of the Baron of Foulis who was killed at Falkirk. If these assumptions are true then -yes- we should have inherited the title (if they were all legitimate) Lots of ifs I'm afraid. In the family we had a letter from the War Office of 1747 telling the family that George Munro had been killed in a matter of mistaken identity while riding a borrowed horse. This is the way that George Munro of Culcairn died and it's quite unusual so I assume it must be the same man. If I could just prove the connection between Thomas/Hugh and George!
