1881 - RG11/1823 F:50 P:1 James Harvey Father Widower 88.... DECAYED Lab.... (yes the image does look like it!) I have visions of the poor old man, dead in a corner, quietly rotting away, while the family continue to claim his Parish relief :))) Alternatively any ideas as to what it could be or mean? Thanks Chris

Chris it does look like Decayed Labourer (lol) but what they probably mean is retired. Chris if you go forward 2 pages on the census the enumerator has put Decayed Lab for another 75 year old man. Georgina.
