Chris it does look like Decayed Labourer (lol) but what they probably mean is retired. Chris if you go forward 2 pages on the census the enumerator has put Decayed Lab for another 75 year old man. Georgina. |

1881 - RG11/1823 F:50 P:1 James Harvey Father Widower 88.... DECAYED Lab.... (yes the image does look like it!) I have visions of the poor old man, dead in a corner, quietly rotting away, while the family continue to claim his Parish relief :))) Alternatively any ideas as to what it could be or mean? Thanks Chris |
