Ive been trawling through christenings using hugh wallis for the village of edwinstowe and the name tudsbury(and variants)from early 1600's to mid 1800's......loads of them-the name is local and did move to other villages, but the population was easily 900plus during this period so why only a few marriages?.......are they kept somewhere else?(ive calculated about 25 families with the male head being a trudsbury at least, never mind female tudsburys marrying)

The males of the family may have married in their brides parishes. You may find that the baptisms for your parish have been filmed but not marriages. Heather

The IGI isn't complete either so all marriages may not be on there. Sam x
