That's a good point! Was Frederick Woods down as father on the birth cert then?? If he was then you are very lucky - not many men trotted off meakly to the reg office when they had produced an illegitimate child! Perhaps Ellen was a force to be reckoned with???? Wonder why they didn't get married afterwards?? Have you been able to establish who this man is on the 1861 census, or is the name too commonplace and his occupation something ordinary? Merry |

Merry, from what I remember of the last thread about them, Frederick was on the birth cert :) I found him married in 1851 and 1861!! (to same person) His wife died somewhere between 1861 and 1871, and he became a Lodging House Keeper. He remarred in 1885 and promptly died in 1886 lol Ellen doesn't feature anywhere with him in the censuses. |

Angela, I do have the images. I will post the transcriptions for full household details tomorrow. If you order the 1885 marriage cert, it will tell you who he married. I can't tell, since he died. It will be one of the women listed with him though. |

I think he MAY have married Annie Latter Simmons. There is a Julia and Donald McCall (ie the ''other'' couple) on the next census living in Sussex. Julia is born 1853. There is a Julia Eggbrecht on earlier census records also born 1853, though it has to be said that her birth place doesn't match very well!! Merry |

thats ok tracey perhaps frederick couldnt have children with his wife and so had an affair and this is why edwin is registered twice in both surnames and also frederick on edwins birth cert he was obviously very proud to be edwins father just my thoughts angie xxx |
