what did he die from?????

l am hoping that some clever person can tell me what my grt grandfather died from.....the death cert. says ....Tubercle of knee joint and exhaustion....and he was only 58!!!! many thanks maureen

thanks christopher......excuse ignorance but is tubercle part of the knee....and why would it make you exhausted?? maureen

Surely this is tuberculosis?. It can affect other parts of the body as well as the lungs. Exhaustion is quite a common term on death certificates. Basically they were so sick they had no more energy and just died. Anne

I googled and got this Tubercle TB OF THE KNEE TB does not only affect the chest - it affects other organs as well, and the knee is a favourite bone for this destructive organism to grow in. In can these days be successfully treated - but in the knee it is important to cure the infection before the joint is destroyed. Anna

thank you liz....now at least l know.....poor man...l do feel sorry fo him...funnily enough...his son...my grandad..had severe poblems ith his legs, and from a child can only remember him with walking sticks..and he died when only 58 too....very weird! maureen
