I agree with Wendy about the DurhamRecords site - it has some 1851 and 1861 census information which I have found useful. A bit pricey but worth it. |

A Durham specific board can be found at www(.)rootsweb(.)com/~engdur Also this one about waggonways through the North East.. www(.)geocities(.)com/waggonways If anyone has an interest in Workhouses or PoorHouses, I found this site very interesting - though not Durham specific, they do cover Durham. http://users(.)ox(.)ac(.)uk/~peter/workhouse/index(.)html As mentioned, Durham Records Online is very good, and they have a lot of stuff you can read about for free. If your relatives come from a coal mining background, try this one http://www(.)dmm(.)org(.)uk Its the site for Durham Mining Museum. Loads and loads of information.
