Hi All I have an ancestor whose occupation was put down as that on one of his son's wedding certificates. Sounds a bit posh I think. Any ideas? Pauline |

Dead right. Not an occupation as such, you've money invested and you live on the interest. Start looking for some wills! |

Hi Pauline I've got a 'fund holder' occupation for one of my ancestors, who I don't think was very rich.....worked as a 'Carrier' which is Victorian equivalent of 'White Van Man'. However, I was told that fund holder meant 'Pensioner'. So he was living off a private or work pension. Not sure what to think now! Natalie |

My great great grandfather was listed as a fund holder in the 1881 census, I didn't have a clue what it meant, thanks for the difinition. Fern. |
