Just learnt that a relative was born off "Assersion B S" in 1868, got the info from the 1901 census. I know that they went to New Zealand, so could this read "Ascention?". How can I trace records and what might they show? Happy Christmas!

This one (from Ancestry)? Ann Randall 33 At Sea Off Ascension Daughter Sholing Hampshire In fact on the official 1901 it says "At Sea Off Ascerrsion B S"

I believe all births at sea were registered at a church at Poplar, East London. Hope this is of some help.Jim
