There's an article about framework knitters in this months "Your Family Tree" magazine £4.99 from WHSmiths. Knitting was one of the last fabric processes to be mechanised. Basically it is knitting with a machine! Anne PS No Karen, I don't think its the same a weaving. There were lots of them around the Nottingham area apparently. |

You want to know what old occupations meant? Look no further ... Go to google and type in "old occupations", giving you a list of old jobs names and explains the meaning of them. Hope this helps... Caz |

Found a new one today - a man and a 14 year old lodger were both "CH number takers". They took the numbers of railway wagons and the numbers were sent to the Railway Clearing House (CH). Paid trainspotters! |
