hi everyone Anybody know if theres a way of tracing people who were in Durham Gaol in 1912? It seems I have 2 ancesters, married at the time. who were in Durham gaol in 1912, leaving a 6 year old daughter who was then put into a care home. Anybody got any suggestions how to check this out? I'm very curious as to what the crime would be as to leave the daughter parent-less.

Hi and thanks david. Tried looking from there but cannot find any link to Durham Gaol or any listings for records of who was "staying" there. Its so annoying, I would like to know if the couple were convicted together or if they were seperate incidents. Annoying but getting obssessed with this family history!! I will keep trying tho.

Have you tried Durham Assizes records? Some are subject to the hundred year rule, but you could try www(.)catalogue(.)national archives(.)com and see if that comes up with anything.
