Russell If you find the marriage on FreeBMD or Ancestry's England & Wales civil registration index (which is the same info as FreeBMD) you can click on the page number to see if there is an Ellen on the same page. Helen |

At some point they started including the spouse's surname but that might be quite late on. Have you tried freebmd? Also check whether the area in question has any info on-line. |

I am wanting to find a marriage between a Joseph France and an Ellen (no surname known). If I find a marriage for Joseph France which I think may be correct, how can I double check that he married an Ellen before ordering the certificate? |
