Hi all I was wondering if anyone has been to Tower Hamlets local history library and archives at Bancroft Library and whether it is any good. It would be great to hear from you. Thanks Ange |

Angela, What part of Tower Hamlets are you researching? I went to Bancroft Library last year and have a list of all their holdings. See also previous thread about What Records Office for St George in the East. Regards, Kathy |

Where do I start? I had a wonderful afternoon up there....... It is a very old building but the staff were so very helpful and couldn't do enough for me. They hold everything there, I came home with lots of lists of excatley what they hold, so if anyone has any queries please feel free to e-mail me directly. Best of all though I purchased about 5 books on the East End then and now,( WOW what a difference.......) and none of them were over £4-00. I would say well worth a visit............... Angie. |

Hi Angela, I wish I had bought some of those books when I was there. I think we are researching the same part of the East End - i.e., Stepney (St Dunstans Church), and Bromley by Bow. Perhaps I could order some direct from Bancroft Library. Which of the book titles are most appropriate to the areas we are researching? Kathy |
