Hi all, I just tried to order a marriage certificate from GRO and they only do certificates from 1837. The marriage was between William Weaver and Sarah Fitkin on 22 September 1796 at Weston Turvill, Buckingham. Do I have to go to local Parish records office.? If so please detail as I have not done before and would like to know how and where. Thank you very much in advance. Jill

You need the church records or the Bishops Transcripts for anything pre 1837. May be available at the local record office.

There were no marriage certificates before 1837. It's down to parish records and the like.

Why not just order a copy of the fiche that will not be any more expensive you get to keep it then, you should be able to get a printout from any local Record centre. You should be able to find Buckingham records centre on line if you can't find what you want give them a ring. Irene
