Hi Ladies Thank you for all your help and advise. I am going to give it a go with a card that is only used occasionally so can keep track. Karen |

Aileen I wonder if that was just a blip, as I forgot my passsword, seem to have so many for different things, but they emailed me straightaway. But as you say best to keep it written somewhere. Lynda |

Hi Karen, I have had two 3 month subscriptions and am very happy with Ancestry. The only problem I had recently was when I mislaid my username and password. I emailed them twice using the correct path but didn't get a reply. When I tried an alternative route they promptly wrote back and told me this route was not acceptable! Eventually I phoned them (in Utah) and after waiting for 30 minutes for an assistant, everything was sorted and I got an extra month added to my suscription as compensation for the aggro. Just don't lose your password and username if you subscribe else you'll have a huge phone bill! Aileenx |

Karen At least if you use a card that is little used you can keep a close eye on it's activities. I'm sure it will be O.K. Hope you find loads of people on there. I use it lots and find it a big help, with the parish records and everything else it has. Good Luck Lynda |

Thanks for your reply Lynda. Hubby has a card that he only uses once in a while and a very low spending limit so I think I will give it a go. Karen |

Karen I am no expert, but I have had no problems with my free trial and subscription with Ancestry. I travel quite a bit and give my CC numbers all over the world, and don't want to tempt fate, have had no problems. Once when I was asked to give a CC number over the web for a taxi to collect me in Rome, I was a bit bothered about doing it, so I rang the CC company and they said If I gave the number and there was a problem they would sort it out and I wouldn't have to pay, booked the taxi no problem. I am not one of lifes worriers, and I assume things will be O.K unless proven otherwise, but I am always cautious. If you have worries phone your bank/CC company and see if they can put your mind at rest. Hope this helps a bit. Lynda |

When handing over my credit card details I have always been told that if there is no little padlock in the right hand corner then the web site is not secure. Ancestry co uk is offering a free trial which I want to take up but when filling in the details I have noticed that there is no little padlock in the corner. Am I OK to give my details or am I just flapping over nothing? I have been to Ancestry com and there is not padlock on their site either. Any advise? Karen |
