Does anyone know what occupation a Whitesmith would be? The ancestors at the time lived in Brackley, Northampton area in 1881. Thanks in advance to anyone with any information - Janice

According to the Shorter Oxford English Dictionary a whitesmith is: a. A tinsmith b. One who polishes or finishes metal goods, as opposed to one who forges them. c. Also more widely, a worker in metals. www.gendocs.demon(.)co.uk/trades(.)html is an invaluable reference for old occupations. Hope that helps! Sue
