According to the Shorter Oxford English Dictionary a whitesmith is: a. A tinsmith b. One who polishes or finishes metal goods, as opposed to one who forges them. c. Also more widely, a worker in metals. www.gendocs.demon(.)co.uk/trades(.)html is an invaluable reference for old occupations. Hope that helps! Sue |
