Anyone researching in Portsmouth should free up a day to spend in Portsmouth Central Library. ........................................ They have a huge genealogy section spanning almost a whole floor of the building. ........................................ You only need a library card, and thy sign you in/out. ........................................ You can search: ........................................ *Microfiche Births, Marriages, Deaths.* *Parish Records* *Microfiche and internet Census returns* *Maps and topographical info* *Kelly's Directories* *Lots of Navy/maritime records* *more* ........................................ It's all free of charge and the staff there will help you out if you get stuck! ........................................ Just thought it might be useful to some of you! ........................................ Best Wishes, -Kate |

Thanks for info Kate. I get to Portsmouth now and then so will give it a go. I have a photocopy of a death cert for Olive Hawkins (nee Hartland) born in Portsmouth if anyone reading this is related to her. Sue |
