Hi

New at this but I was hoping someone here could help answer why can I find a record of my grand grandmothers birth but she is not in the 1901 Census? - born in 1893 so would have been 8.

Any help would be appriciated
Thanks

Couldn't find mine for a while as her name had been mistranscribed. Try being less specific in your search or creative in your spelling!!

The Ancestry 1901 census index has a lot of transcription errors, which is the most likely reason.

Try the 1901 Online search http://www.1901censusonline.com/census.asp
or even the search on GR as these use completely different index trancriptions to Ancestry and are much more accurate.
