There's a 13 y gap between William and Edmund, and I wondered about Levi's other sibs. There're 75 Callear births on FreeBMD in 1841-1871, so has anyone found their parents in the 1861 census? Incidentally, if you're thinking of checking church records, I think there's a good chance this is a Jewish family.

Can't find a marriage of William & Elizabeth but there's one to Betsy Owen, 1872, Wolverhampton. If it's her, that servant Sarah Owen on the 81 census could be a relative.

There is an ALLice Westwood a=3 @ Featherstone in 1881. Featherstone is abt 5km WSW of Pontefract, York and abt 25 km from Carlton, near Barnsley /Royston.

Name Relation Marital Status Gender Age Birthplace Occupation Disability
Samuel WESTWOOD Head M Male 39 Sedgley, Stafford, England Coal Miner
Mary WESTWOOD Wife M Female 28 Wales
Sarah WESTWOOD Daur Female 7 Featherstone, York, England Scholar
Samuel WESTWOOD Son Male 6 Featherstone, York, England Scholar
Allice WESTWOOD Daur Female 3 Featherstone, York, England Scholar
William WESTWOOD Son Male 1 Featherstone, York, England
----------------------------------------------------
Dwelling 32 Allison
Census Place Featherstone, York, England

I don't see how they would meet, unless either one of them moved before 1901, or the families already knew each other. Note that both dads were born in Staffs, abt 5 km apart, halfway between Wolverhampton and West Bromwich. There are 68 Westwood's in Yorks with pob=Staffs in 1881. There are only one other Callear family living in Yorks in 1881; the head and his brother were both born in Bilston. They actually live next door to Levi.

Name Relation Marital Status Gender Age Birthplace Occupation Disability
William CALLEAR Head M Male 31 Bilston, Stafford, England Coal Miner
Elizabeth CALLEAR Wife M Female 30 Carsley, Stafford, England
William CALLEAR Son U Male 7 Bilston, Stafford, England Scholar

For completeness, there was another Alice Westwood in Yorks b 1876-1880. Saddleworth is abt 10km E of Oldham, Lancs, and Mossley is 8km to the S of Saddleworth (technically just in Lancs near Ashton-under-Lyne.)

Name Relation Marital Status Gender Age Birthplace Occupation Disability

I know I am soooooo confused!!!

Please tell me if I am way off the mark here.

We think Levi was married to Esther in 1868 who then died in 1869. He then married Rachael in 1873.

Just cant work out where the 1856 marriage comes in as Levi Sr wouldn't have been old enough. Ohhh my head hurts and this isn't even my main tree I'm trying to find this out for a Cousin.
