I'll see if I can get a copy of 'The Tree'-I think there was a connection at Nescliffe as well (it's still shorter route via Whittington, knocks 4 miles off)

Tudor

Tudor Report 12 May 2008 22:17

I know Whittington pretty well, used to go through it regularly before the A5 was made straight, past Gobowen, West Felton etc.

Hi Col,

Have only ever been in the Dog-in-the-lane once i think. Though the Lion in Battlefield used to be a regular haunt, only really for the meals. They used to do a lovely 'chicken New Yorker' before they got took over and went down hill.

I used to live in Sundorne so it wasnt that far a walk on a nice sunny evening.

You have lost me on the Cold Fridge Shop though..Unless you mean the slaughter House which was at the back of the Lion?

Did you ever get to the dog in the lane--or
the lion at battle field
Do you remember that cold frige shop there
name escapes me--owned by Cid the canadian
Indian--He was a champion boxer in canada before
the war
And during the war was famous as a rear gunner
